Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is working with a well-known not-for-profit organization in downtown Chicago that is searching for an Assistant Controller / Sr. Manager of Accounting on a contract-to-hire basis.Candidate should be a Manager, Supervisor, or Sr. Accountant with some Lead responsibilities ready to take the next steps in their career!Candidate will be responsible for:

• Supervision of 1-2 accountants
• Complete control of the month-end/quarter-end close process
• GL work including reconciliations and journal entries as needed
• Process improvement for accounting functions
• Generation of financial statements
• Liaison with auditors
• Working with large data sets to confirm accounting data and information prior to reporting and closing the books
• Other duties as assignedCandidate should have the following experience:
• 5+ years of accounting experience either with a public accounting firm or in an accounting role in industry
• Experience working with a not-for-profit organization is preferred, but not required
• Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics GP is preferred, but experience with NetSuite or Sage Intacct would also be acceptable
• Ability to work with large accounting data sets (data dumps into Excel for reporting)
• Ability to make recommendations to accounting processes and standards to help improve department
• Strong MS Excel experience (vlookup / pivottables)
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• "Can do" attitude
