Hiring Salary Range : $ 102,000.00 - 134,000.00This range represents the hiring range. Salaries are determined individually depending on skills and experience. Join us!Job SummaryThe Manager, Detection Systems Mechanical is responsible for overseeing the integrity of the Mechanical Detector Systems network by ensuring detector standards are met across the system. In addition, the role is accountable for the day-to-day oversight of detector health, maintenance schedules, troubleshooting, and reporting.Main ResponsibilitiesConduct daily audits to ensure the detector network functions as intendedDevelop and maintain standards and templates for detector implementation, maintenance, and validationProvide technical support for detector installations, maintenance, algorithms, and reportingAnalyze departmental metrics regularly to identify and address common issuesDevelop and implement new tools for detector monitoringCollaborate with suppliers to enhance product quality and serviceAssist Supply Management with technical knowledge and field data to secure the best overall valueWork with Information and Technology (I&T) to ensure proper integration of detector data with CN SystemsOversee new detector installations on-siteCoordinate preventative maintenance trips and calibrations for detectorsSupport and develop machine vision systems within the Mechanical departmentDevelop, test, and deploy software enhancements for detection systemsConduct quality analysis of detector software and dataLead and perform investigations on detector alarmsWorking ConditionsThe role is performed in a combination of office and outdoor environments, often in various weather conditions. The standard workweek is Monday to Friday, but the role requires being on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidents. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress. The role requires occasional travel (up to 45%) within Canada and the United States (U.S.).RequirementsExperienceWayside Detector TechnologyMinimum of 5 years of relevant experience with wayside detector technologyExperience in project managementEducation/Certification/DesignationHigh School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent or relevant experienceCompetenciesIdentifies potential safety and security risksLeads by example for the safety and security of allIdentifies needs and solves problems to create value for all stakeholdersCommunicates with impactCollaborates with others and shares informationKnows the business and stays current on industry needsDemonstrates agility and drives changeTechnical Skills/KnowledgeComprehensive working knowledge of Mechanical Detection systemsKnowledge of Electro-mechanical systemsFamiliarity with software system architecture and developmentKnowledge of computer networking and cyber securityKnowledge of Microsoft Office including SharePointKnowledge of track engineering and detector installationsFluently bilingual, both written and verbal (English, French)*Familiar with Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP), Business Objects (BO), Power BI, ServiceNow**Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an assetAbout CNCN is a world-class transportation leader and trade-enabler.
