Job SummaryThe Electrical Engineer Project Manager provides
professional engineering support to review, design, troubleshoot,
manage, and inspect current and proposed electrical systems
throughout the Milwaukee Public Schools system. Coordinates design
efforts of outside consultants with in-house personnel. Maintains
MPS database of electrical services and equipment
information.Salary Range: $95,470 - $137,754How To

414-777-7879.QualificationsEducation Requirements:Bachelor of
Science degree in electrical engineering from a school approved by
the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), with
an emphasis in the design and application of electrical systems for
educational/commercial buildings.Registration as a professional
engineer in the State of Wisconsin is desired.Must possess a valid
State of Wisconsin driver's license and provide a properly insured
automobile for use on the job.Minimum of seven years of experience
in design, developing specifications, cost estimating, planning and
construction, inspection, and/or project management related to
electrical systems.Minimum three years of experience in the
operation of an Autodesk Design Suite and Microsoft Office Software
programs and spreadsheets or willing to receive approved training
within first year of employment.Experience Requirements:Advanced
knowledge for engineering and design of the following electrical
systems and project types:Electrical service revisions.Fire alarm
system upgrades and modifications, including mass notification and
associated wireless remote monitoring.Emergency and back-up power
generation systems.Lighting and control systems, including stage
lighting.Coordination with mechanical system projects, including
fan, boiler and chiller replacements, and Energy Management System
upgrades.Working knowledge and understanding of Low Voltage
systems, including:Card/Door access control.Audio/video
surveillance.Public address systems.Entry internal communication
(Intercom) systems.Sound reinforcement for swimming pools,
auditoriums, cafeterias, and multi-purpose rooms and
gymnasiums.Telephone and communications systems.TV distribution
(from existing CATV at MPS sites).Door alarm systems.A combination
of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of a
degree.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Advanced Experience in
developing construction drawings and specifications.Ability to
develop total project and construction cost estimates.Advanced
Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite, Autodesk Products,
e.g.Knowledge of Microsoft Project or other scheduling
software.Knowledge of cloud-based project management tools, e.g.
Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, etc.Demonstrates experience
in writing technical reports as well as general
correspondence.Ability to communicate with a variety of personnel
at various levels of experience.Ability to evaluate various design
and construction means and methods based on technical data,
material history and constructability.Organizational skills as
required to work on up to (70) projects at one time in various
stages of completionMust be able to effectively communicate with
the public, District personnel, contractors, tradesmen, design
professionals, regulatory and governing agencies.Working
Environment and Physical Demands:Office environment. Occasional
school/site visits. May be exposed to dirty and dusty
conditions.Ability to climb and work at various heights and in
hazardous and confined environments.May require limited project
specific irregular working hours including after-hours and weekend
work.ResponsibilitiesManage Electrical and Low Voltage projects
from inception to completion.Develop scope and budget for capital
and school funded electrical projects.Review construction documents
for compliance with MPS standards and scope.Coordinate consultant
activities to assure scope is adequately identified.Prepare
construction documents for electrical systems in Autodesk AutoCAD
and/or Revit.Prepare requests for quotations for pre-purchasing
major electrical equipment.Direct MPS trade shop inspectors to
ensure construction standards are met.Resolve field conflicts with
contractors, consultants, existing conditions, and construction
documents.Provide professional input for other District
initiatives, such as additions, renovations, energy conservation,
etc.Make recommendations relative to changes in existing methods
and procedures related to electrical activities.Assist Mechanical
Engineer in preparing energy analysis and provide recommendations
for district energy conservation efforts.Develop and maintain MPS
master electrical guide specifications and information
database.Perform other duties as assigned.Actively support the MPS
