  Major Responsibilities:
  • Determines appropriate radiographic technique and positions patient using immobilization and support devices to ensure optimum film quality
    • --------1)Positions patient and adjusts equipment, immobilization and support devices as necessary, using tact and courtesy at all times
    • --------2)Determines appropriate radiographic technique based on anatomy and patient's condition to obtain quality films to provide Radiologist with a diagnostic tool.
    • --------3)Secures history from patient regarding reason for prescribed test, and records on appropriate form for Radiologists information.
    • Operation of advanced and sophisticated state of the art digital, portable equipment, computed radiography and PACS
      • --------2)Operates portable radiographic equipment and fluoroscopic C-arms in patient's room, intensive care units and surgery. Operates computed radiographic equipment and PACS equipment.
      • --------3)Prepares radiographic/fluoroscopic rooms for procedures and maintains equipment as required.
      • --------4)Ability to troubleshoot diagnostic/fluoroscopic computed radiography PACS equipment and communicate appropriately before equipment becomes a major breakdown.
      • --------1)Assists Radiologists with fluoroscopic procedures including the more advanced and specialty procedures requiring additional experience and knowledge.
      • Delivery of patient care and a "Service First" approach in accordance with departmental standards of continued quality improvement
        • --------2)Demonstrates excellent communication skills by answering questions from various hospital personnel, coordinating patient flow, and communicating with other technologists. Prioritizes emergency requests, expedites emergency room procedures for Radiologists interpretation, collects and distributes related paperwork.
        • --------3)Maintains positive customer relations following prescribed department policies
        • --------4)Assumes leadership role in absence of manager or coordinator to ensure continuity of department operations
        • --------5)Participates in team problem-solving issues that would improve patient care, department operations, film quality, inter-departmental relationships and employee satisfaction.
        • --------6)Is self-directed in securing supplies and equipment for the department.
        • --------1)Coordinates the flow of patients into and out of the department in accordance with established departmental procedures. Transports patients into and out of department when necessary.
        • Participates and assists the coordinators and manager with film quality activities.
          • --------1)Checks film quality to assure optimum quality and makes sure correct film labeling is provided.
          • --------2)Participates and recommends changes that would improve film quality.
          • --------3)Participates in the department Performance Improvement data collection.
          • --------4)Assumes an active role in assisting the coordinators communicate optimum film quality to technical staff.
          • Ensure a secure and safe patient and work environment by maintaining continued awareness of safety hazards
            • --------1)Adheres to safety practices and provides a safe work environment for self and others
            • Development of leadership skills and professionalism for self through participation in department and/or hospital based committees and continuing education programs

              • --------9)Provides inservices to the technical staff in order to maintain technical competenceEducation/Experience Required:
                • - Must be a graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology is required. 2 years of radiology experience post graduate at Christ Hospital. -This position will need to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients treated, ie., understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal aging; prior experience with various age groups is preferred.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
                  • -Ability to work independently and able to perform most sophisticated and specialty procedures with minimal supervision. -Ability to operate most radiographic/fluoroscopic equipment within work areas of Radiology. -Demonstrates knowledge and confidence in performance of radiology procedures. -Demonstrates good team work and cooperation with internal/external customers. -Good communication skills. -Demonstrates leadership abilities.
                  • -Licensed Radiographic Technologist by the IDNS. -CPR certification -ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) eligible.Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:
                    • -Exposed to radiation. -Ability to operate portable equipment. -Ability to communicate with patients. -Ability to adjust to flexible work hours. -Ability to work weekends, holidays and emergency call-back. -Ability to participate in the "on-call" program and available to department needs with minimal notice. -Ability to do light, medium or heavy lifting. LIGHT: Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. MEDIUM: Lifting up to 20-50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds constantly. HEAVY: Lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly. -Ability to make independent professional decisions using good judgment skills. -Ability to practice high quality patient care and technical competence. -Ability to function with minimal assistance in performing job activities. -Ability to demonstrate oral and written communication skills. -May be exposed to hazardous chemicals such as film processing chemicals. -Ability to attend out-of-town site visits to view equipment.
                    • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
