We are looking for an Associate Food Scientist - Bakery to join our R&D team at our corporate location in Chicago, IL.As an Associate Food Scientist, reporting to the Senior Principal Development Scientist, you are an essential contributor to product development and innovation for our Foodservice team. You will bring a food forward and culinary focused mindset to improve or bring new products to the table for our customers. You will work with customers from the initial product ideation stage all the way through commercialization and restaurant integration. With a curiosity for consumer demand and food trends, you'll bring your science background to life by creating innovations that are an asset to Conagra's Foodservice and customer portfolio.What You'll Do:

• Work with our Foodservice customers to develop new products beginning at the concept phase through successful commercialization.
• Design and conduct plant trials and new product start-ups.
• Create product development schedules that are required to meet project timelines.
• Work with pilot plant equipment under guidance.
• Use online specification systems.
• Design and complete experiments and prepare results for review.
• Conceptualize and develop new product prototypes.
• Drive product cutting, plant trials, and testing.Position Requirements:
• BS in Baking Science, Food Science or related field.
• 1+ years' relevant work experience in product development at a food manufacturing company or in Foodservice inclusive of internships.
• Knowledge in food product design, baking science, formulation, ingredient functionality and interaction, process design, product scale-up, plant testing and commercialization.
• Exhibit leadership attitudes in approaching technical solutions to business and market issues.
• Requires knowledge in food industry standard of quality, food safety and FDA regulations.
• Passionate about cooking and finding solutions in Foodservice.Physical Requirements:
• Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended workdays including loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions, food tasting and smells including all food allergens.
• May travel up to 30% of time independently and as a responsible Conagra representative.You will typically be in the office Mondays - Thursdays with some flexibility. Fridays are usually remote. We will also provide a 3% non-elective contribution to your account regardless of your participation (that's 9%)!Compensation:Pay Range: $59,000 - $78,000. The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee's actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees' equity.
