technology company with a legal team that is rapidly growing. We
are looking for an experienced commercial procurement attorney who
has excellent judgment, loves to negotiate deals, analyze complex
legal issues, and find creative solutions. We seek candidates who
enjoy working independently, are highly resourceful, have
exceptional communications skills, and balance competing demands in
a positive and client-friendly manner. We want collaborators who
will help structure deals with business counterparts, and hopefully
contribute some humor to our legal slack channel.What you'll
do:
- Structure, draft and negotiate a wide variety of inbound
technology, vendor and purchasing contracts, including professional
service agreements, SaaS and on-prem software agreements, data
center agreements, IT and equipment purchasing agreements, data
protection addendums, programmatic advertising agreements, and
temporary staffing and recruiting agreements.
- Identify, research, analyze, and work with cross-functional
teams to address potential risks related to data privacy, AI/ML,
intellectual property, software licensing, information security,
and labor and employment laws.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to help streamline,
automate, and scale The Trade Desk's global procurement
processes.
- Continually improve our templates, playbooks, and legal
processes to help us scale globally with a consistent but locally
relevant approach.
- Provide practical advice on legal issues and risks, complex
agreement structures, and company policies in a risk-tolerant, but
compliance-oriented environment.
- Exercise strong judgement to advise The Trade Desk team and
contribute to the overall success of the business.Who you are:
- 8+ years of experience working in an internationally/nationally
recognized law firm or in-house legal department.
- Admitted to practice in the location in which you reside.
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Significant experience in negotiating complex technology
procurement contracts and leading legal negotiations with large
global companies.
- Background or experience with privacy law, intellectual
property law, employment law, artificial intelligence, SaaS, and
advertising technology is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the
ability to interact with internal and external constituents at all
levels.
- Experience managing outside counsel is a plus.
- Exceptional critical thinking skills and ability to thrive in
fast paced environment, while juggling competing, time-sensitive
demands.
- Strong business sense and ability to exercise good business
judgement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills (sense of humor is a big
plus).Compensation and Benefits:In accordance with NY, CO, CA, and
WA law, the range provided is The Trade Desk's reasonable estimate
of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may
differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience,
knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be
eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility
for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees
based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also
offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based
incentives and commissions. Expected benefits for this role include
comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with
premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement
benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term
disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits,
reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick
time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time
employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours
thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year. Employees can
also purchase The Trade Desk stock at a discount through The Trade
