METER Group is seeking a Research Scientist III to generate a continuing stream of concepts, designs, and applications that are turned into products and services. The chosen candidate will possess a logical and independent mind, be an excellent problem solver, have a solid foundation in math and science relative to the needed field, and demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. In addition, this person must be a good communicator, work well in teams, be flexible and willing to compromise when necessary, and be able to translate their deep understanding of scientific and instrumentation concepts in ways that make them accessible to others.This role works from our Pullman, WA office.We anticipate filling this position in the salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per year. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience; the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our offer will be based on job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.Responsibilities:

• Serve as technical leader in research and product development
• Actively conduct relevant research and develop instrumentation
• Provide project leadership including coordinating efforts with scrum teams and Sales and Customer Support as needed.
• Actively participate in the relevant scientific communities for both personal professional development and to serve as a spokesperson for METER.
• Provide mentorship to more junior team members and interns.Required Education & Experience:
  • PhD, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and skill
  • Experience moving projects from research into development.Required Technical & Functional Skills:
    • Knowledge and/or ability to synthesize scientific research literature and trends.
    • Ability to use statistical methods and procedures.
    • Data processing techniques
    • Determination and qualification of variables and mechanization of compilation of scientific data.
    • Strong ability to synthesize ideas and data into coherent, practical plans that result in viable, commercially relevant instruments.Preferred Qualifications:
      • 8+ Years of relevant experienceWork Environment:The position works in an office setting with exposure to lab and in field environments on a regular basis.Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, you are regularly required to talk or hear, and to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
