Position Description
The Lead Senior Data Architect is responsible for designing and
overseeing the architecture of data solutions within the Azure
environment, including Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric. This
position exists to ensure that data is efficiently structured,
stored, and integrated across systems to support the organization's
business intelligence and analytics needs.
Responsibilities
- Design Data Architectures: Develop and maintain the overall
data architecture and data integration strategies within Azure
Synapse to support the organization's business intelligence
needs.
- Create Data Models: Design and optimize complex data models
that ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and reporting
performance across the BI environment.
- Oversee Data Pipelines: Define and implement ETL/ELT pipelines
using Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse, ensuring data is
accurately ingested, transformed, and available for analytics.
- Implement Microsoft Fabric: Design and lead the adoption of
Microsoft Fabric to enhance data collaboration, governance, and
advanced analytics across teams.
- Ensure Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance
practices to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with
internal policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with Data Teams: Work closely with data engineers
and data analysts to ensure that the data architecture supports
current and future reporting and analytics requirements.
- Optimize Performance: Continuously monitor and tune the
performance of data models, queries, and pipelines to ensure
optimal performance across all environments.
- Document Architectures: Develop and maintain detailed
documentation of the data architecture, data flows, and data
integration processes.
- Evaluate Emerging Technologies: Stay informed about emerging
trends in data architecture and cloud computing technologies,
particularly within the Azure ecosystem, and recommend improvements
or new solutions.
- Support BI and Analytics Efforts: Assist in troubleshooting
data-related issues and provide architectural guidance to data
engineers and analysts in the BI team.
- Cross-Training and Knowledge Sharing: Share expertise and
provide training for other team members to ensure smooth operation
and understanding of data architecture principles and tools.
Qualifications:Knowledge:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data architecture, data
modeling, or data engineering. 3+ years of experience with Azure
Synapse Analytics and other Azure cloud data services.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering,
Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work
experience.
- Microsoft certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect
Expert or Azure Data Engineer Associate preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of data architecture principles and
data modeling techniques.
- Thorough understanding of Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data
Lake, and related services within the Azure ecosystem.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric for advanced analytics, data
governance, and collaboration.Skills:
- Data Modeling: Expertise in designing scalable, optimized data
models for analytics and reporting solutions.
- ETL/ELT Processes: Strong skills in defining and implementing
ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Synapse, Data Factory, and other
tools.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills
to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical
audiences.Abilities:
- Ability to design and implement cloud-based data architectures
that are scalable, reliable, and meet performance standards.
- Ability to collaborate with data engineers, data analysts, and
stakeholders to ensure data solutions meet business
requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the
capability to manage complex data environments.The Starting Salary
Range: $169k-$189k. Exact compensation may vary based on skills,
