Shive-Hattery is seeking an experienced architect or interior designer to join our commercial workplace studio in our Chicago office, nestled in the vibrant heart of River North! With a bustling team of about 30 innovative professionals, our Chicago office is a hub of creativity and collaboration.

We seek a visionary designer with at least 8 years of experience, who is not only passionate about design, but also a great communicator. Your role will involve mentoring our talented internal design teams, inspiring them to deliver exceptional results for our clients. Requirements

Team Engagement: Dive into projects from the very beginning, defining the scope, designing, documenting, and seeing them through to implementation.
Collaborative Spirit: Work closely with the project architect and senior Interior Designers to ensure seamless project delivery.
Design Preparation: Craft programmatic space plans, floor plans, ceiling plans, elevations, floor finish plans, and dimensional sketches to convey design intent for both in-house and client reviews.
Conceptual Rendering: Bring your ideas to life by preparing 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.
Detailed Documentation: Prepare and/or oversee the development of working drawing contract documents, plans, details, schedules, technical specifications, and FF&E specifications using Revit, BSD, Excel, and other related software.
Coordination Excellence: Ensure all document requirements are met by coordinating with the design team and corresponding plans and drawings.
On-Site Expertise: Attend on-site visits and field reviews, providing direction to outside contractors and vendors when necessary.
Project Pursuits: Organize and participate in project pursuits and interviews, showcasing your skills and expertise.
Business Development: Support business development activities and build strong client relationships.
Technical Solutions: Develop innovative technical and design solutions.
Presentation Skills: Assist in design presentation development and deliver exceptional presentations.
Revit/BIM Mastery: Utilize Revit/BIM modeling and project documentation to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Standards Adherence: Follow project development and production standards to maintain quality.
Continuous Improvement: Commit to personal growth and continuous education to stay ahead in the industry.

Qualifications:
Educational Excellence: Graduate from an accredited Interior Design program with a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design.

Professional Certification: NCIDQ Certification or the ability to become certified.
Corporate Experience: Proven experience in working on Corporate Workplace projects.
Creative Communication: Ability to develop, communicate, and present innovative design concepts with the project team, clients, and outside vendors/agencies.
Tech-Savvy Skills: Proficiency in Revit, BSD Speclink, Sketch-up, Adobe Creative Suites, Microsoft Office Suite, and other related graphic software programs.
Industry Knowledge: Current knowledge of materials, finishes, furnishings, and equipment, including industry standards for selection, procurement, and install management.
Multitasking Mastery: Exceptional time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects or facets of various projects simultaneously.
Deadline Driven: A keen eye for deadlines and the ability to meet them consistently.
Communication Pro: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Detail-Oriented: Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
