Job Description:
Democracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a Migration
Expert for the six-month (May-October) assignment, 'Development of
a regional analysis with focus on women on the move, including
gender perspectives, policy analysis and programming
recommendations' in the Europe and Central Asia (ECA) region funded
by UN Women. This study seeks to address the multifaceted
challenges faced by women on the move in the ECA region. UN Women's
Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia is proposing a
comprehensive two-phase research initiative. This analysis aims to
assess existing data, identify gaps, and conduct a gender analysis
of migration dynamics, ultimately informing policy development and
programmatic interventions. This will be a consultancy based in
Europe/Central Asia and will be contingent on award and funding.The
position's responsibilities will include:
- Provide technical expertise in migration in Europe and Central
Asia and contribute to the timely achievement of assignment
objectives and the production of high-quality deliverables in
accordance with assignment Terms of Reference.
- Contribute to the development of the assignment inception
reports, the revision and finalization of the research methodology,
preparing draft and final Phase 1 reports (including data mapping
and gap analysis), the subsequent data collection and analysis, and
production and presentation of the final report and
brief.Qualifications
- Advanced degrees (Master's or higher) in a relevant
discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in migration research, gender
analysis, or social policy development.
- Technical skills:
- Demonstrable expertise in qualitative and quantitative data
collection and analysis.
- Track record on understanding of gender norms, stereotypes, and
their influence on migration trends and policies.
- Experience in data visualization, policy analysis, and research
dissemination.
- Familiarity with population movement trends in South-Eastern
Europe, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia, including labor
migration, displacement, human security and/or climate-induced
population movements.
- Full proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required;
working knowledge of Russian will be considered an asset.Reporting
- The Migration Expert reports to the Team Leader.Application
