Job DescriptionJoin a world class academic medical center,
UChicago Medicine, as a UCMC Human Resources Consultant in our
Consumer Experience Department. This position will be a hybrid
position that will work from home and be required to come onsite as
needed.The Human Resources Consultant serves as the first point of
contact and subject matter expert for human resources policies,
processes, escalations and programs for UCMC. The Consultant
supports employees at all levels of the organization by providing
guidance and direction on policy application, promoting access to
and utilization of organization programs and benefits, and by
resolving problems related to systems and processes. The position
fosters a culture of consumer experience excellence, teamwork, and
continuous process improvement by providing exceptional customer
service and advice on complex questions/requests from employees,
managers, and HR functional leads. The Consultant will actively
support HR service lines, system utilization, utilization of
reports and analytic insights, and HR resources and services. Using
knowledge of the fundamentals of all core areas of human resources,
the Consultant will actively support programs and initiatives and
facilitate access to resources and effective and efficient service
delivery. The position will also support the HR components of
third-party surveys, site visits, audits, and accreditation
reviews. The Consultant will support multi-disciplinary teams to
drive positive organizational change, including organizational
objectives for engagement, individual and team recognition. The
work involves a range of situations and challenges requiring the
incumbent to exercise a high degree of initiative, resourcefulness,
and good judgement to assess business, leader and employee needs to
determine the necessary HR resources to resolve the issue.Essential
Job Functions
- Serve as the escalation contact for employees, managers,
leaders, and HR Customer Experience inquiries regarding policy
access, interpretation, and applications.
- Be a problem solver for complex questions and people
issues.
- Utilize knowledge and experience with HR systems, people, and
processes to deliver excellent customer service direction regarding
HR transactions and when necessary, service recovery.
- Ensure HR services exceed employee and leadership
expectations.
- Support utilization of the HR Service Delivery
model/structure.
- Guide employees to the appropriate channel and ensure proper
interpretation and utilization of HR policies, processes, and
programs.
- Serve as the HR liaison/coordinator for business project
implementation (acquisition, mergers and new UCM entities)
involving multiple HR functions.
- Participate in the HR Customer Experience team as a subject
matter expert for enterprise UCM HR processes and practices.
- Partner with HR departments including Benefits, Compensation,
ELR, HRIS, HR Analytics, Talent Management & Experience, and Leave
Administration to promote system-wide programs and to ensure
consistent delivery and high participation of those programs.
- Maintain HR policies and ensure periodic review by stakeholders
in accordance with SOP.
- Perform other duties assigned.Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Three to five years' professional experience in human resources
or comparable field
- Integrate knowledge of HR Services and ability to understand
and advise on HR processes, policies, procedures, and compliance
efforts
- Demonstrated experience in employee and labor relations in a
union environment
- Knowledge of best practices within HR, organization
development/design, program and change management
- Strong data analysis, visualization, and analytics skills
- Ability to facilitate and build relations, adapting
communication style to meet the needs of the business
- Demonstrated business and financial acumen
- Personality, communication style, business approach, and vision
that meshes with the business unit
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to write
and communicate concisely and clearly with persuasion and succinct
styles; needs strong listening and interpersonal skills
- Knows how to navigate complex relationships and processes
inherent in a highly matrixed organization
- Understands how to build partnerships across a system
- Strong operational acumen with an understanding of what
resources to engage to achieve a successful outcome
- High degree of independence in planning, directing, and
conducting projects, analysis, and assignments
- Ability to independently resolve complex and sensitive problems
as they arise
- High level of discretion and judgement
- A skilled relationship builder who promotes trust by being
visible with all levels of leaders and staff
- Possesses the interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and
effectively in a matrixed organization

provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably
expected to be offered for the position.The pay range is based on a
full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market
data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time
of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience
and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay
ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements
are negotiated by the medical center and their respective
