Job Description:
The Dallas Mavericks are in search of a motivated and
experienced strategic product sourcing manager that will work
closely with personnel on the brand and marketing team, and service
all departments within the organization. The promotional sourcing
manager must have an extensive background in product sourcing,
management and buying strategy. They must possess an expert level
skillset in buying and operations and be able to translate those
skills into the product sourcing role. Their attention to detail
and ability to implement brand guidelines into all projects, then
be able to provide detailed, in-depth analytics on all projects
quarterly is essential. Passion for environmentally conscious
sourcing and unbiased supplier selection to support all DEI company
initiatives is key. Ability to research potential vendors without
persuasion for product selection is important. Passion for
relevant, trend conscious product ideation is a must; in addition,
a high level of innovation to take our brand to the next level.
They must also be well versed in converting the vision of the brand
team into high quality products while maintaining a collaborative
spirit within all departments to elevate our
brand.Duties/Responsibilities:
- The Strategic Sourcing Manager reports to the Director of Brand
Identity.
- Translation of individual department needs into multiple ideas
for quality product presentations.
- Ability to manage, procure, and communicate product budgets,
item quality, environmentally conscious products (when applicable),
proactive timeline, brand alignment, and operations for all
internal project needs.
- Track quarterly spend and project analytics by DEI vendor
categories and by department.
- Ensure brand consistency and elevation throughout all projects
start to finish.
- Maintain professional relationships while managing external
vendors and internal customers.
- Lend a unique voice to the brand team to continue to elevate
our brand.
- Collaborate with the Brand team, merchandise team and marketing
team on product launches.
- Provide constructive and continual timely feedback on projects
to all parties involved.
- Communicate effectively across all internal departments and
external vendors.
- Own and lead internal product initiatives from start to
finish.
- Ensure creative execution of the highest quality: delivering
projects that meet or exceed brand expectations and
standards.Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven track record of working within strict budgets and the
ability to negotiate with vendors.
- Excellent at color matching and translating colors between RGB,
CMYK, PMS, HEX and thread.
- An established sense of layout hierarchy, spacing and color
strategy for all end uses.
- Full understanding of embroidery files, print executions, logo
applications, fabrications, etc.
- In-depth knowledge of sourcing, costs, MSRP, managing an
open-to-buy, understanding shipping processes, then the difference
between retail quality vs. promotional quality.
- Excellent sense of fashion and understanding of fashion
forecasting with detailed background in fashion design,
fabrications, and textiles.
- Understanding some projects are extremely confidential among
the brand team members and not allowed to be communicated to other
internal teams until specified date.
- Instrumental in maintaining, elevating, and implementing brand
standards across entire organization.
- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication
skills with ability to communicate ideas from concept to
execution.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Highly innovative. Constantly up to date with the latest
technology, trends, and environmentally conscious products and
processes.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail with
strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet
deadlines in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software -
Adobe suite a bonus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with a deliberate pace,
then communicate ever changing priorities and deadlines both
internally and to vendors.
- Proofread copy and check accuracy of owned projects.
- Ability to accept constructive feedback and react with positive
results in team meetings.
- Self-motivated, proactive, highly focused on the task at hand
while working quickly and accurately with positivity, often in a
collaborative environment.Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred. B.A. or B.F.A. in graphic design,
fashion design, visual communications, merchandising, trend
forecasting, social responsibility, or related field.
- 5+ years minimum experience in retail or promotional goods
buying.
- Efficient and skilled in Microsoft Office, Outlook.
- Experience, knowledge and ability to work in Illustrator and
Photoshop preferred.
- Passion for sports encouraged with an acute sense of high
impact product.
- Obsessed with sneaker culture, trends, and luxury
brands.Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a
computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.Job Type:
