know you.We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago
for a Data Architecture Director I on our Information Technology
team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL
office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.This role will lead
the design of enterprise data solutions that drive optimal health,
operational, and strategic outcomes by developing roadmaps and
solving unique, complex challenges that have a broad impact across
the AMA. This key leadership position will serve as a subject
matter expert on the architecture, management, and governance of
data systems across multiple business units, ensuring data
integrity, security, and accessibility. This role will work closely
with cross-functional teams and business leaders, leveraging
advanced data architecture methodologies and technologies to
support the AMA's mission through actionable insights and
innovative solutions.RESPONSIBILITIES:Data Architecture
- Design a target architecture for the AMA's enterprise data
landscape that empowers self-service analytics, ensures data
quality and governance, and supports real-time
decision-making.
- Advise on the integration and flow of data across systems,
ensuring seamless access and high data quality for analytical and
operational purposes.
- Design, develop, and manage robust ETL (Extract, Transform,
Load) processes to ensure efficient and accurate data translation
within systems and platforms.
- Lead the design of solution data architectures for multiple
projects, ensuring that they meet functional and non-functional
requirements.
- Develop standards for the management, storage, integration, and
retrieval of large datasets to ensure consistency and
accessibility.Business Support and Leadership
- Partner with and influence other leaders, providing expertise
and guidance towards the development of a comprehensive enterprise
data strategy aligned with the AMA's organizational goals and
vision.
- Partner with business leaders and IT stakeholders to understand
objectives, develop roadmaps, and align data solutions to meet
their goals.
- Lead and mentor application, infrastructure, and security
architects to ensure data is integrated into all layers of the EA
program.
- Provide guidance to business and IT teams on how to effectively
use data.Research and Development
- Stay ahead of emerging data architecture trends, technologies,
and industry best practices to ensure the AMA's systems remain
innovative and competitive.
- Implement tools and processes (e.g., automated data workflows,
data orchestration, and real-time analytics) that enable
operational efficiency.
- Continuously assess and optimize the performance and
scalability of data architecture to meet evolving organizational
needs.
- Lead proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives to validate new data
solutions and approaches.May include other responsibilities as
assigned.REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science,
Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical
field.
- 10 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering,
or related fields, including at least 7 years in a leadership
role.
- Demonstrated success in delivering data solutions that align
with business goals and enterprise architecture.
- Strong experience in implementing data governance frameworks,
ensuring compliance with regulations such as HIPAA, PCI, SOC, GDPR,
or CCPA.
- Technical certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics,
AWS Certified Database, Azure Certified Data Engineer, Azure
Certified AI Engineer, etc.) are highly desirable.
- Experienced in designing, implementing, and managing
large-scale data systems, including data lakes, lake houses, data
meshes, data warehouses, and/or cloud-based platforms.
- Expertise in creating conceptual, logical, and physical data
models.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL
Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB,
Cassandra).
- Knowledge of data normalization, denormalization, and
dimensional modeling techniques.
- Experience with cloud technologies like AWS or Azure,
particularly for data storage and processing (e.g., Databricks,
Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery).
- Experience integrating data from disparate sources (structured,
semi-structured, and unstructured).
- Understanding of data security practices, encryption, and
access control.
- Ability to align data architecture initiatives with business
goals and long-term strategy.
- Strong understanding of how data architecture supports digital
transformation.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management skills to communicate
technical concepts effectively to non-technical

- Data Replication and Migration: AWS DMS (Database Migration
Service), Azure Database Migration Service.Analytics and Business
Intelligence
- BI Tools: Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Qlik Sense.
- OLAP Tools: Azure Analysis Services, Apache Druid.This role is
an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is
$160,650 - $213,384. This is the lowest to highest salary we
believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An
employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a
variety of factors including but not limited to business
consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well
as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and
experience. Employees are also eligible to participate in an
