Through CFF, everyone in Chicago-from the philanthropic and business communities to higher education, healthcare, and cultural institutions to individuals-has the opportunity to make a profound and positive impact on the lives of students.Job Summary:Reporting to and in partnership with the Managing Director of Finance & Operations, the CFF Financial Manager will be responsible for managing all finance activities, including accounts receivable and payable, proper allocation of funds, bank monitoring and reconciliation, financial reporting, and coordinating all annual audit and tax activity in accordance with internal controls. The CFF Financial Manager is expected to work extensively with the CFF development team and staff in other departments and schools throughout CPS. This is a full-time exempt position that will be paid for time worked on a salary basis.This Job will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Manage all activities in the accounts payable/receivable function ensuring proper allocation and recognition of revenue and expenses and timely payment of vendor and staff invoices; recommend improvements in the process when necessary, in accordance with internal controls and auditing requirements.
  • Responsible for managing the finance email inbox and all vendor communication.
  • Coordinate with the CFF development team in the preparation of budget reports for proposals and reports.
  • Coordinate with key staff at all levels of CPS to support proper and timely expenditure of funds in compliance with applicable guidelines and deadlines.
  • Develop high-level and complex reports for the CFF Board of Directors, CPS officers and senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, this position must possess the following qualifications:Education Required: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field is required.Experience Required: - Minimum of five (5) years of general accounting experience or equivalent experience managing grants, including the following, is required:
  • Processing financial transactions.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal or contractual requirements.
  • Recordkeeping and preparation of monthly, quarterly and/or annual reporting.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge of principles and practices of accounting.
  • Skill in researching, analyzing, and evaluating financial data.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data for accuracy; detail oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; provide a high level of customer service and establish and maintain effective internal and external communications and relationships.
  • Proficiency in various systems including CRM and financial management databases.
  • Independent, thought leader, comfortable with change management.
  • Passionate about making a material impact in the lives of students.Conditions of Employment:As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
  • Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
