Job Description:
OverviewThe Director, Project Implementation will direct the
implementation of organizational priorities supported by YMCA of
the USA. More specifically, the Director will lead the
implementation of assigned projects to advance community-based
services within the network delivery system, facilitate learning
capture, build capacity of participating project Ys, and advance
organizational priorities across the Y Movement.The Director,
Project Implementation will collaborate with other teams at Y-USA,
local YMCA teams, and external partners to lead the implementation
of projects to align with organizational priorities and advance
access to and engagement in community-based services across the Y
Movement.This position is grant funded through November 2029.YMCA
of the USA is a work from anywhere in the U.S.
workplace.Responsibilities
- Directs implementation of organizational priorities to ensure:
- Project implementation approach supports Y-USA and Ys in
achieving project aims
- Learning is captured throughout, used to inform ongoing
implementation, and is prepared for incorporation into all service
delivery mechanisms: Thought Leader Cohorts, Innovation Teams,
Activation Cohorts, Leading Practices, etc.
- Processes for impact assessment, data gathering, and trends
analysis are embedded in implementation activities and used for
continuous quality improvement practices.
- Opportunities for using the Innovation Process are
leveraged
- Works with Senior Director and VP to support strategy
development and alignment of emerging opportunities with
organizational priorities and practice leadership.
- Directs one or more multicomponent projects ensuring:
- On-time completion of deliverables
- Budget adherence
- Support of contributing staff
- Early identification of concerns about project scope and
timeline and elevation of concerns to Senior Director to determine
next steps and needed course correction
- Identifies opportunities to cultivate and disseminate
learnings, to align content and implementation activities, and to
optimize the experiences of Ys participating in emerging
opportunities projects.
- Develops new tools, methods, and processes that enable
integration of learnings into YMCA support systems and the YMCA
Movement.
- Provides network facilitation support to emerging opportunities
projects
- Leads a team of staff focused on network facilitation across
multiple project areas (may include full-time and part-time
employees, consultants, interns, etc.)
- Works across multiple teams at Y-USA (Research, Analytics, and
Insights, Practice Leaders, Financial Development, Marketing,
GRACE, etc.) to:
- Ensure implementation activities achieve desired outcomes
- Support Ys participating in implementation projects
- Utilize all existing systems to ensure seamless support to the
Y
- Partners with external organizations and individuals that are
supportive of Y-USA's mission, goals, and objectives.
- Directs assigned components of grant projects to completion;
includes contributing to written program and financial content for
monthly budget and deliverable progress reports, interim and final
reports and future grant monthly proposals, when applicable.EFFECT
ON END RESULTS/STRATEGIC IMPACTThis position will advance the
overall strategic direction of YMCA of the USA through efficient
and effective development and deployment of assigned services to
target audiences. This will enhance the ability of the organization
to serve the needs of the movement and its constituent
parts.Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Minimum 7 years of experience working collaboratively and
building partnerships with staff of local YMCAs (CEOs, COOs, VPs),
or other community-based organizations to implement organizational
priorities; is strongly preferred
- Minimum 7 years of experience building strong relationships
among a wide variety of stakeholders (government officials, school
officials, physicians, public health officials, employers, payers,
vendors, and community-based organizations) to advance a common
cause is strongly preferred
- At least two of the preferred work experiences and/or preferred
skills are required
- Experience leading cross functional teams around quality
improvement for demonstrated impact is required
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage complex systems
with superior technical and project management skills is
required
- Experience supervising and leading staff is preferred
- Experience managing grants and balancing budgets is strongly
preferred
- Ability to travel as needed is required
- Ability to work with a broad range of partners such as:
non-profit organizations, private sector funders, government
officials to advance various strategic goals is required
- Ability to hold self to very strict deadlines is required
- Must possess excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, and
be able to comply with all administrative processes
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication and
presentation skills are required
- Excellent time management skills, initiative, and the ability
to take direction
- Demonstrated ability to work well with staff at all levels is
required
- Demonstrated ability to influence others in order to achieve
objectives is required
