PLACEMENT: Placement on the salary schedule is dependent on
qualifications.
Base Compensation Hiring Range for 2025/2026 Academic Year:
$61,912-$110,322/annually (9 months).
Base Compensation Hiring Range for 2026/2027 Academic Year:
$63,770-$113,632/annually (9 months).
Compensation placement based on education and related teaching/work
experience.
Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.

credit hours a semester constitute a normal load. Position is
subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College
faculty contract. Course assignments may be late afternoon,
evening, Saturday, and at branch campuses or satellite
centers.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Instruct introductory and advanced courses in Health Information
Management (HIM).
2.Assist program coordinator to develop and update curriculum,
lecture materials, course resources and evaluation methods for HIM
courses.
3.Assist in ensuring the curriculum meets or exceeds certification
standards from AHIMA (American Health Information Management
Association).
4.Per CAHIIM accreditation standards, assist in annual assessment
of curriculum to determine areas that need improvement, including
formal feedback from students, faculty, graduates, advisory
committee members, and employers.
5.Help develop, facilitate and update program goals, measured
outcomes, required reports, site visits and other tasks to support
continued CAHIIM accreditation status.
6.Assist program coordinator in securing externship sites and
supervising professional practice experiences.
7.Work with marketing staff to develop updated program materials
and participate in program recruitment.
8.Participate in departmental meetings, college committees and
related community activities.
9.Maintain current knowledge of HIM by attending relevant
professional development seminars and other educational
opportunities.
10.Assist the HIM program coordinator in organizing advisory board
meetings and compiling information gained from these meetings to
assess community and employer needs.
11. Perform or assist in other relevant duties as assigned.MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS1.Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management
or related field.
2.AHIMA credentials (RHIA or RHIT).
3.Five years (10,000 hours) experience in the HIM profession.
4.Two years (4,000 hours) experience in an HIM supervisory
role.
5.Experience in teaching, training or instruction related to
HIM.
6.Demonstrated knowledge of current technology and software used in
the HIM field.
7.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective
working relationships with members of the college and community,
displaying cultural competence as well as emotional
intelligence.
8. Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect
and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and
well-being, innovation and quality.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.Masters' Degree in Health Information Management or related
field.
2.Other HIM related certifications (CCS, CCS-P, CMT or CTR).
3.Experience teaching in higher education.
4.Experience in teaching online and/or using course management
programs.
5.Experience in course development, assessment, curriculum and
accreditation requirements.
6.Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from
diverse backgrounds.
7.English and Spanish verbal and written communication
proficiency.
8.Demonstrated multicultural competence.PHYSICAL DEMANDS1.Normal

3.Standard hospital equipment and software.
4.Ability to travel between campus locations and to/from community
events.
5.Ability to travel in state and nationally.WORKING
