Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a CT Technologist for a job in

Major Responsibilities:
- Accountable for positioning and immobilization of patients and
proper selection of technical factors along with computer
reformatting of acquired data to obtain magnetic resonance scans
and/or computer tomography procedures of optimal quality.
- 1)Selects appropriate technical factors on an individual
patient and procedural basis to provide optimal quality
examinations.
- 2)Performs post processing of computer data to enhance data and
image information.
- 3)Operates support equipment for MRI and/or CT, such as
satellite console, additional disc drives, power injector, imaging
formatters, and laser cameras.
- 4)Transfers patients to and from MRI and/or CT scanning table
and prepares patient for examination by explaining procedure and
answering any questions patient may have.
- 5)Initiates IVs for administration of contrast media for MRI
and/or CT enhancement in accordance with departmental policy and
utilizing universal precautions in the process.
- Accountable for securing pertinent history from patient,
patient's chart or family member to provide the radiologist with
adequate information for examination interpretation and to ensure
procedural criteria is met.
- 1)Assists in obtaining confidential history of patient, which
includes allergy screening to ensure appropriateness of patient for
examination as well as ensuring the administration of contrast
agents during required procedures.
- Accountable for being compliant with established Accrediting
Organization and department safety standards to ensure patients and
staff well being at all times.
- 1)Maintains magnetic and radiation safety standards.
- 2)Maintains fire safety standards.
- 3)Maintains knowledge of department Code 10-2 policy.
- 4)Maintains knowledge of departmental disaster, evacuation and
quench policies.
- 5)Maintains and constantly implements universal and infectious
safety standards.
- 6)Maintains documentation of equipment malfunctions and
Preventative Maintenance.
- 7)Attends mandatory inservices.
- Accountable for obtaining documentation for department records
related to patient statistics, supplies, patient billing
information and preservation of patient records
- 1)Documents confidential patient's history to ensure
appropriateness of patient for examination.
- 2)Documents patients charge data, modifying and initiating
charges as procedure modifications are made per the
radiologist.
- 3)Documents any allergic reaction, incident report regarding
staff or patient situations.
- 4)Provides timely information for inventory of supplies.
- 5)Ensures all films are properly identified and numbered for
each patient according to current department procedures for
accurate interpretation by radiologist.
- 6)Assists in scheduling of examinations and documenting
complete.
- Accountable for keeping abreast of current magnetic resonance
and/or computerized tomography and new developments in the field
- 1)Responsible for attending inservices and educational seminars
when appropriate.
- 2)Responsible for sharing with other technologists new
techniques learned, as well as working with students when
required.
- Accountable for maintaining good relations when dealing with
all persons encountered in daily performance of job.
- 1)Relating with Internal Customers - fellow staff members,
physicians
- 2)Relating with External Customers - ancillary departments,
inpatients/outpatients, and family members.Education/Experience
Required:
- 3 years general radiology experience
- ARRT RegistryKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Basic knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and usual CT
procedures.
- ARRT Registry -IDNS License -CPR CertificationPhysical
Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to work overtime when required. -Ability to be flexible
in starting times to meet demands. (weekend rotation and flexible
hours.) -Attends additional educational and safety inservices.
-Ability to respond to work at short notice. -Exposed to radiation.
-Ability to operate portable equipment. -Ability to deal with
extremely ill patients. -Ability to communicate with patients.
-Ability to adjust to flexible work hours. -Ability to work
weekends, holidays, and emergency call-back. -Ability to
participate in on-call program and available to department needs
with minimal notice. -Ability to do light, medium or heavy lifting.
LIGHT: Lifting up to 20-50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10
pounds frequently. MEDIUM: Lifting up to 20-50 pounds occasionally
and / or up to 10 to 25 pounds frequently and / or up to 10 pounds
constantly. HEAVY: Lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally and / or
25 to 50 pounds frequently and / or 10 to 20 pounds constantly.
-Ability to make independent professional decisions using good
judgment skills. -Ability to practice high quality patient care and
technical competence. -Ability to function with minimal assistance
in performing job activities. -Ability to demonstrate oral and
written communication skills. -May be exposed to hazardous
chemicals, such as film processing chemicals. -Ability to attend
out-of-town site visits to view equipment. *This position will need
to recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of
patients treated, i.e., understand child growth and development,
normal patterns of adolescent behavior and look for signs of normal
aging. Prior experience with various age groups is preferred.
- If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact
the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting
requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when
patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling
equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other
associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement
situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.This job
