Volt is immediately hiring for a Lead CNC Coiling Operator in Libertyville, IL.

We're seeking a Lead CNC Coiling Operator to spearhead our coiling operations at a new state-of-the-art facility, train a team of operators, and ensure a seamless production ramp-up. Direct Hire, Day shift
Pay: $40-44 per hour*
Relocation package available to Libertyville, IL area. (Northern Chicago suburbs)
Training will be in Buffalo Grove, IL (20 mins away) and the new facility will open in Libertyville in November 2025.





As a Lead CNC Coiling Operator you will:

Leadership: Train and mentor a team of CNC coiling operators prior to production ramp-up, ensuring they master programming, operation, and quality standards.
Programming: Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs (using platforms like WPS 3.2 or equivalent G-code systems) to produce precision springs at scale with tolerances of -0.01 mm.
Machine Setup, Operation: Mount tooling, align axes, calibrate systems, and launch initial runs. Operate multi-axis CNC coiling machines, including wire feeding, test runs, and adjustments to maximize high-volume output.
Testing & Feedback: Travel to Europe, to test custom-built machines during development, providing actionable feedback on performance and setup to meet mass-production goals.
Quality Control: Inspect springs using micrometers, calipers, and vision systems to uphold precision standards in a high-output environment.
Troubleshooting: Resolve issues like material jams, tool wear, or programming errors to maintain production efficiency.
Collaboration: Work with engineers and production teams to refine processes and ensure a successful facility launch.





This is a full time, Direct Hire opportunity.





Required Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on CNC coiling experience, with expertise programming and operating multi-axis coiling machines.
Programming Skills: Advanced proficiency in CNC programming (e.g., WPS 3.2, Fanuc, Siemens), with ability to adapt blueprints for mass production.
Leadership: Proven ability to train or mentor operators, with strong communication and team-building skills.
Wire Expertise: Demonstrated skill coiling wire CNC machinery for precision springs, ideally in high-volume settings.
Setup Experience: Prior involvement in installing or commissioning CNC equipment in a production environment.
Precision Focus: Comfort with metrology tools and maintaining tolerances of -0.01 mm or tighter under mass-production demands.
Travel to Switzerland in Spring 2025 - 1 trip to verify and test the new coil machine that's in the process of being built, make sure functionality is in spec for customer.

Preferred Qualifications

Mass Production: Experience leading high-volume spring manufacturing or similar fast-paced CNC operations.
Technical Feedback: Proven ability to assess machinery and communicate improvements to engineers.
Leadership Roles: Past experience as a lead operator, supervisor, or trainer in a manufacturing setting.





Salary: $40-44 per hour
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
