Development group is seeking an experienced and ambitious Team
Manager for our growing national Resilience Planning practice. As
the Resilience Planning Team Manager within our Community
Development business line, you will have the opportunity to lead
mission-driven work, supporting multiple company strategic
initiatives in line with climate adaptation and resilience
services. The need for climate adaptation planning is only
increasing, and the right candidate will focus on leading,
mentoring, and motivating an ambitious team to meet market and
client needs while delivering technical excellence.The manager
oversees the growth and direction of business as well as the
management and leadership of a growing national multi-disciplinary
team. In addition to team management, the Resilience Planning Team
Manager's responsibilities include project management, task
management, client relationship management, and technical
oversight. Candidates must have a proven track record of successful
project management/task management for resilience-related projects
and have direct experience completing technical work in areas such
as vulnerability assessment, hazard mitigation, community planning,
climate change adaptation, environmental justice, and research and
planning related to Federal (e.g., FEMA, USDOT, HUD, USACE, and
NOAA), state, and local agencies.Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop, lead, mentor resilience community development planning
team, a team that facilitates the advancement and support the full
range of resilience project life cycle activities from risk
identification, adaptation planning / alternative analysis,
solution design and implementation to long-term monitoring.
- Research markets, develop and implement marketing and business
development efforts that contribute to the top-line revenue of
Stantec's Community Development business line while measurably
contributing to Stantec's overall market share of resilience
work.
- Facilitate across Stantec's business lines, participating in
targeted business sector resilience capacity and capability
building, supporting local business center's ability to identify,
prioritize, compete for and win transformational and strategic
resilience / climate adaptation work.
- Drive on-time, on-budget delivery of community resilience
planning efforts including, but not limited to: hazard mitigation
planning, climate adaptation planning, risk assessments, disaster
resilience and recovery, infrastructure resilience planning, and
benefit-cost analysis.
- Support national and regional growth campaigns.
- Identify, develop, and maintain public and private client
relationships and play a key role in winning and delivering new
projects.
- Define and manage project objectives, scope, schedule, budget,
contracts, subcontracts, and multi-disciplinary project teams to
ensure client and project team satisfaction in alignment with
Stantec's PM Frameworks and maintain compliance with ISO 9001
certification.
- Manage technical support for resilience, hazard mitigation
planning, or climate change adaptation projects within the
municipal, regional, state, tribal, and federal markets.
- Prepare plans, reports, presentations, and functional tools to
meet project needs.
- Interact with and develop excellent relations with internal and
external clients and stakeholders to determine and meet project
requirements.
- Guide delivery of stakeholder outreach and engagement such as
development of public presentations, facilitation, and community
engagement.QualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials
- Proven experience leading and growing teams while maintaining
excellent delivery of services.
- Highly familiar with U.S. federal agency programs related to
resilience, hazard mitigation planning, and vulnerability
assessments that contribute to and drive the advancement of
resilient projects to implementation.
- Highly familiar with U.S. federal (ie. FEMA, FHWA, HUD, USACE,
EPA, NFWF, etc.) and state, local and NGO programs and initiatives
specifically designed to support hazard mitigation planning and
resilient infrastructure improvement implementation.
- Demonstrated success as a self-starting "doer/seller" who can
quickly collaborate and engage with colleagues across the US and
across disciplines, growing a national practice.
- Proven track record for delivering projects on time, within
budget, and to the performance expectations of the client.
- Robust knowledge of Federal and state emergency management,
climate, and resilience-related laws and regulations, as well as
best practice standards and guidance.
- A task-oriented self-starter, who can grasp new concepts
quickly.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational and
collaboration skills including effective management of staff and
projects.
- Certifications in AICP, CFM, ENV SP, PMP, PE or related.

partnering opportunities.Education and Experience
- Master's degree or equivalent in planning, climate science,
engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in resilience, hazard
mitigation and/or climate adaptation, or equivalent
experience.
- Minimum of 5 years team supervisory experience.
- Office environment with prolonged sitting and computer work, or
combination of office and field. Some travel will be required
(approximately 25%), such as meeting attendance with clients. May
occasionally visit study areas and/or be exposed to outside
elements and inclement weather conditions. Must have good driving
record and valid driver's license.The ideal candidate must have
proven experience leading teams and developing business, project
management proven success (budget, time, quality deliverables will
request samples).Your experience supporting development of
resilient and forward-looking programs, policies, and plans will
complement Stantec's multi-disciplinary technical expertise and
national resilience team to build communities that thrive in the
wake of shocks or stresses. We help communities understand,
communicate, and reduce their current and future hazard risks and
vulnerabilities, including the impacts of climate change.In this
role, your strong understanding of risk and vulnerability
assessment, climate adaptation and hazard mitigation, and
stakeholder engagement, you will lead tasks, teams, and projects
for risk assessment, hazard mitigation planning, adaptation
planning, and related support to provide exceptional deliverables,
achieve client satisfaction, and maintain profitability for the
projects we execute. In addition, you will collaborate with our
national resilience leaders.Salary Range(s):
- 108,000 - 162,000 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO,
HI, MD and IL
- 115,900 - 173,800 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA
and DC
- SF Area $123,700/CA Other Areas $108,000 - SF Area $185,600/CA
Other Areas $173,800 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA
(SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)The final agreed upon compensation
is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and
work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.Benefits
